Frequently Asked Questions
No. An official Form 16 is a legal TDS certificate that only your employer can issue, generated from the TRACES portal against tax actually deducted and deposited with the government. This tool produces an illustrative tax-computation summary in a similar format — it is not a substitute and cannot be used for tax filing or as proof of TDS.
Old-regime slabs with a flat Rs. 50,000 standard deduction and 4% cess — it doesn't apply the new regime, or any 80C/80D/HRA exemptions you may actually be eligible for.
Your actual Form 16 reflects your declared exemptions, investment proofs, HRA, and whichever regime you selected with your employer — none of which this tool collects. It only computes tax on your raw CTC minus the standard deduction.
Use the genuine Form 16 issued by your employer (or Form 26AS/AIS from the income tax portal) for filing — this tool is for a quick illustrative estimate only.
