Bookmarks are the navigation entries visible in the PDF reader's sidebar (chapters, sections). This tool splits the document at each top-level bookmark, so each chapter or section becomes a separate file.

By default, the split occurs at top-level bookmarks. Sub-bookmarks within each section remain in the resulting file for that section.

The tool cannot split by bookmarks if there are none. Add bookmarks first using the 'Add Bookmark to PDF' tool, or use 'Split PDF by Page Range' instead.

Yes. Each output file includes the bookmark entries that fall within its page range.

Files are named after their bookmark title, so 'Chapter 1 Introduction' becomes 'Chapter_1_Introduction.pdf'.
