Split PDF

What this tool does

Upload one PDF, type the page ranges you want, and the tool creates one new PDF for each range. Nothing is uploaded; the pages are copied in your browser using the pdf-lib library. After you pick a file, the tool shows how many pages it has so you know the valid range.

How to write ranges

• Separate ranges with commas: 1-3, 4-6, 9.
• A single number is a one-page file. A pair like 4-6 is pages 4 to 6, inclusive. Pages are numbered from 1.
• Example: for a 10-page PDF, 1-3, 4-6, 9 gives three files with 3, 3 and 1 pages. Pages 7, 8 and 10 are simply left out.

Each result gets its own Download button, named after the original file plus the pages, such as report_pages_4-6.pdf. There is no ZIP download, so for many ranges you will download them one at a time.

Errors it catches

• A range that goes past the last page, a start after the end, or text that is not numbers is rejected with a message before anything is created.
• Password-protected or damaged PDFs are reported instead of producing an empty file.

Limits

• Explicit ranges only. There is no "every N pages", split-by-size or split-by-bookmark mode. For equal chunks, type them out: 1-10, 11-20, 21-30.
• Ranges can overlap and the same page can appear in more than one output.
• Bookmarks and interactive form fields from the original may not carry over.
