About PDF to JPG

What this tool does

It renders PDF pages as JPG images using the pdf.js library, entirely in your browser. You choose the pages and a quality level, preview each page, and download images one at a time or all together as a ZIP file. Nothing is uploaded.

Step by step

  1. Choose a PDF file.
  2. Enter the pages to convert, for example 1-3, 5. The box starts with page 1. You can convert up to 30 pages in one run; an empty box means all pages if the file has 30 or fewer.
  3. Pick a quality: Small (about 110 DPI), Standard (about 144 DPI) or High (about 216 DPI).
  4. Click Convert to JPG. Each page appears with a preview and a download button. With more than one page, a "Download all as ZIP" button appears.

Choosing quality

PDF pages are defined at 72 points per inch, and the tool scales them up. Standard suits screens, chat and email. High is better for printing or zooming into small text, but the image files are several times larger and use more memory. Small is fine for thumbnails.

JPG or PNG?

JPG compresses photos well but softens sharp edges slightly, so text pages can show faint artefacts. If your pages are mostly text, line art or screenshots, use PDF to PNG instead. The JPG here is saved at 92% quality.

Limits

  • Pages are drawn on a white background, so transparency is not kept.
  • Each page is rendered one at a time. Very large page sizes at High quality can exceed what the browser can draw, and the tool will show an error. Try a lower quality or fewer pages.
  • If a PDF uses fonts that are not embedded, the browser substitutes similar ones, so the look can differ slightly from your PDF viewer.
  • Password-protected PDFs are not supported.
  • The tool converts pages to pictures. It does not extract the images stored inside the PDF, and the text in the result is no longer selectable. For selectable text use PDF to Text.
Frequently Asked Questions
